    Purchase of Star Rated appliances

    SUBJECT: STANDARDS AND STAR RATINGS OF PRODUCTS FOR CONSERVATIONS OF ENERGY.
    Energy is the one of the major inputs of the economic development of the State. The need for the efficient use of energy and its conservation s the most economical strategy before increasing energy supply for the overall energy security and sustainable development of the economy of the State. Accordingly, the Haryana Government has identified energy conservation as one of the thrust areas and the Department of Renewable Energy has been declared as the Nodal Agency for the implementation of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 in the State.

    The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), govt. of India, a statutory body of Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, created to implement energy conservation act, has developed a star rating plan for labeling the equipments, based on its energy efficiency. Under this plan, in view of the energy efficiency i.e. minimum energy consumption and maximum energy saving per year, of the equipment/product it label it with the rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars. The product of star/rating 5 is the most efficient product/equipment.

    The Bee has so far labeled the following items with star rating and detailed specifications can be seen on BEE website.

    1. Frost free refrigerators
    2. Direct cool refrigerators
    3. Air Conditioners (spilt as well as windows)
    4. Tubular Fluroscent Lamps
    5. Distributions transformers

    The specification of the BEE labeled above mentioned products were also forwarded vide this office letter no. DRE/2007/972-1232 dated 19.07.07 for your information and further necessary action in the matter.

    In this matter, the State Govt. has decided that in future al the Govt. Departments/ Boards/ Corporations/ Govt. aided institutions/ govt. undertakings shall necessary by minimum by 4 star rated products for their Deptt./ Agency requirement.

    HAREDA has also arranged the rate contract of ***** rated 36 watt 1200mm Tubular Fluorescent Lamps approved by HPPC and copy of the same is also enclosed.

    It is requested that compliance of the above instructions of the State Govt. be insured with immediate effect while carring out the purchase of above products by yopur department/agency.
